Why the weird title?

Some of you might be wondering why we chose such an odd title for our new single.

The song is named after the international distress signal used by ships and aircraft in peril and, in the story of TERRA NOVA, that is precisely the situation we find ourselves in when we arrive at this track.

You've probably heard of "SOS." Whilst a lot of people believe that it stands for "Save Our Souls," SOS stands for Save Our Ship, and it refers to the Morse code alert for a ship in distress.

Sibilant sounds like S can be tricky to distinguish over radio communication. "Esss" and "Efff" are easy to get confused - something that you don't want to risk during an emergency! Because of this, the original international distress signal "SOS" gave way to the words "May-day", the phonetic equivalent of "M'aidez", the French for "Help me."

Why French? Well ... we don't know! If you have the answer, write in and you'll be rewarded for your efforts.
